Accompanied Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse

Ayurvedic Home Cleanse Spring Cleanse

Homemade Ginger Tea for a detox and great digestion

Winter is a time of slow metabolism, gathering in and storing leading generally to the accumulation of sticky kapha dosha and ama. This accumulation, relatively harmless when cold, melts at the arrival of Spring and starts to flow causing disruption in bodily functions, allergies, rhinitis and skin problems among others. The dryness of winter leaves the tissues vulnerable to rising heat and inflammation and lowered immunity.

Early spring is the ideal time to re-balance agni, alleviate the winter dosha accumulated, eliminate ama, re-hydrate and rejuvenate your tissues and boost your immunity. This cleanse, improves digestion, elimination, circulation and lymphatic drainage. It brings ease to the body and mind with improved energy, strength and immunity.

This Cleanse is not a fast but a lightening of the fuel so the fire can burn brighter, eliminating waste, improving digestion, elimination and tissue metabolism throughout the body.

  • Lasting 12 days, there are 5 preparation days, two cleanse days and 5 days of gradual reintroduction of a normal diet.

Ayurveda & Yoga for Summer

Hot & Bothered - Not this Summer

Each season has it’s own cast and summer is slightly oily, light, mobile hot, sharp, malodorous, displaying principally the qualities of Pitta Dosha. Kapha Dosha is in decline and Vata Dosha is increasing. As with every other season, summer requires particular consideration. Surprisingly in this heat Agni is weakened and the body loses strength and despite the oily nature of Pitta the overall effect of the warm months is drying.

In order to prevent excess Pitta aggravation and subsuquent discomfort, inflammation, acidity, sleep deficit and irritability among others certain measures can be taken to adjust diet , lifestyle and Yoga practice. With Autumn, Vata season, on the horizon Summer is a time to pacify Pitta while preventing excess Vata accumulation.

If you would like to know more, join me, Ann Johnston, to explore the Ayurvedic approach to the hot season and how to keep your body and mind comfortable, sustain your energy and enjoy the fun time of year.

Tattvabhyas : An exploration of Ayurveda & Yoga

I am proposing both workshops and practice sessions that present Ayurveda and Yoga and their intrinsic relationship through the lens of Samkhya.

Yoga as a psycho- sensory method and Ayurveda as a functional biology. Each works in a complementary fashion with the 24 tattva or aspects that make up life. The purpose of both is a happy, healthy life leading to awareness of our existential nature through awareness and care for our materiality.

Ayurvedic Spring Cleanse

Come and join me for an Ayurveda Spring Cleanse and Rejuvenation

Spring and Autumn are the perfect times to cleanse. They represent the cusp of the two major climate changes of the year and as the body is required to undergo a considerable adjustment at this time the most effective way to support it is to clear out the old and make way for the new.
